Right on the back of me not really enjoying any NiN album aside of Year Zero, pet peeve of the day: when I tell someone I’m watching/listening to/doing something I’m not really enjoying and their reply is “then stop doing it”. This annoys me for three reasons:
One! If life consisted of people doing only things they wanted to do, there would be zero progress.
Two! If you want to stay relatively on top of popculture or in the very least know what the hell people are on about when they mention something, you have to sometimes ingest a form of art you’re not too keen on.
Three! (Which is sort of number one, but more philosophical.) Curiosity leads us up unknown paths; if we ignored the ones that seemed daunting the moment something’s not right, we’d never discover anything different.
